THE DESIGN PROCESS FOR COMMERCIAL & HOSPITALITY

All the information below is a general guide as to how we work at Galvanize Design.  However, we are totally aware that each brief is unique and different so we always allow for flexibility and change dependent on your needs.  An integral part of this process is to guide you through it, consulting you every step of the way!

1.    INITIAL CONSULTATION

Our strength in what we do best is that we love to create and define a unique story for your interior that will help elevate your space to the next level, and this is where it all begins.

At this consultation we will discuss the brief talking about your ideas, budget, branding, what you would like to achieve, and how we can meet your requirements, we can also go over any plans that you have available too.

  2.    ESTIMATED QUOTE

After this initial meeting we will prepare for you a detailed quote with a specified brief tailored to your project. This quote shows how many hours we will be spending on your brief, broken down into stages so that you can see how many hours are allocated to each task in each area.  At this point alterations can be made to allow for the individuals needs and budget.

3. BUILDING CONSENT DOCUMENTATION / COUNCIL SIGN OFF

If you need a building consent we can also provide for you a rough quote for the whole detailed building consent documentation in order for council sign off.

3.    THE DESIGN MEETING

Once you’re happy with the quote, we will meet again and discuss your design in more detail, design magazines, external references, Pinterest and other design sources are available to gain inspiration from.  We will also present to you some of our initial design ideas. This is the fun part where we work together to start to develop a personalised, customised design that demonstrates a unique aesthetic. At this meeting we will also carry out a full site survey, photograph and measure if it’s needed (for new builds plans are good enough to survey from).

4. THE DESIGN

The design will then be developed further in stages communicating with you every step of the way to ensure that you’re happy with the choices that are made.  Feature finishes, swatches and other design samples will be available to view and concept / mood boards and sketches can also be created to help you visualize your design.  We also provide the service to create 3D rendered perspectives of the space which allows you to visualise the concept and understand the feel, ambience, practicality and look of the interior.

 5. PRICE SCHEDULE

Once you are happy with all the design choices and have signed off on the design we will then prepare an interior design specification schedule for you and CAD drawings which may include: plans, sections, elevations, detailed cabinetry design, finishes, fixtures, fittings, lighting, soft furnishings and building consent documentation. These drawings are then sent out to tender to contractors to obtain pricing for the fit-out, where we will endeavor to get you the best price.  Our many contacts in the trade will ensure that we will pass on these savings to you where possible.

6. BRIEF COMPLETION - PROJECT MANAGEMENT

During construction, weekly site visits will be carried out to ensure that all work is being carried out to the highest standard and that all documented detail is being implemented. After each site visit a report is formulated and emailed back to you. Once the build is completed we then work with the shopfitters who will correct any defects that are found. Once we are all happy with the end result then sign off is completed and the job is complete.

At Galvanize Design we are happy to work with you from conception to completion and will take great pleasure in sharing your journey with you.About
